KeyBank Neighbors Day Volunteers Make Progress in Portland

KeyBank has a deep commitment to the communities where we work and live. We focus our philanthropy, sponsorships and outreach to build up communities throughout the country.

Neighbors Make the Difference Day is part of that commitment. Each year on Neighbors Make the Difference Day, thousands of KeyBank volunteers join projects that help our neighborhoods thrive.

For Neighbors Make the Difference Day in the Oregon market this year, 362 Key employees volunteered 1,468 hours of service on 36 different projects, 24 of which were in the Portland metro area.

KeyBank Helps Communities Thrive

“We know we each have the power to change communities for the better. That's why Key encourages our employees to volunteer. Working together, we can help communities support positive growth, and it’s been great to see that spirit spread throughout Oregon and SW Washington,” says Michelle Weisenbach, President of KeyBank in Oregon and SW Washington.

Key volunteers shared photos of their experiences on Neighbors Make the Difference Day and many commented that volunteering gave them a great sense of community and pride.

Positive Outcomes Expected

Throughout Oregon and SW Washington, KeyBank teams did everything from packaging food, putting together packets for summer reading programs, repairing books, and habitat restoration and landscaping, to helping with animal socialization, and providing upkeep, cleaning, and organizing of various buildings, housing, and parks.

At the Boys and Girls Club of Portland, volunteers helped out at the Wattles Club and got the Regence Club summer ready by deep-cleaning, organizing, and moving furniture.

KeyBank employees volunteered at the St. Johns Center for Opportunity by landscaping and cleaning-up so the Center could focus on its mission, while Key volunteers helped beautify the space.

At Meals on Wheels, Key volunteers cleaned the kitchen, wrapped cutlery, stuffed donor envelopes and decorated placemats to help Meals on Wheels volunteers continue spreading comfort and nutrition to Portland residents.

These are just a few of the 36 Oregon organizations Key was proud to serve on Neighbors Make the Difference Day, and we’re happy to have had a small part in supporting them as they make communities thrive.
