Navigating COVID-19: Practical Advice from a Key4Women Expert – Aneta Ardelian Kuzma
While we all may feel a bit disconnected from our routines, our workplaces, co-workers and friends, the extended Key4Women® team is busy leaning in to bring practical advice to others during this time of disruption resulting from COVID-19.

Perspective During COVID-19

"During periods of crisis or uncertainty, it is important to guard our minds and our thoughts," comments Kuzma. "If we consistently consume television news and social media focused on crisis or fear, we can negatively impact our thinking and activate our sympathetic fight-or-flight nervous system."
As a certified wellness and nutrition coach, Kuzma recommends that we invest in our self-care and personal health and well-being. "There is a lot happening in the world today, over which we have little control," she said. "One thing that we can control, however, is our own personal health and well-being. We have an opportunity during this challenging time to focus on building our strength and resilience mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. We can leverage this time to transform into the best version of ourselves."
It is now more important than ever to fuel our bodies with proper nutrition and exercise, develop a positive mindset, surround ourselves, virtually, with like-minded, positive, energetic people, and to give back. And further, to work on personal growth and development by leveraging books, podcasts, seminars and other online events to help strengthen our physical and mental well-being.
As a first step, Kuzma recommends asking yourself powerful questions to reframe your thinking at this stressful time:
- If you were to find a blessing in what we are experiencing right now, what would that be?
- How can I leverage this time to refine my strategic objectives, to identify new opportunities of growth, and create new revenue streams in my business?
- What have I put off doing or what have I feared trying that I can do right now?
Second, leverage your skills and expertise to give back to others. We’ve seen hundreds of examples of individuals helping to ensure food is delivered to those who are in need, distilleries making hand sanitizer in place of alcohol, and those that make baseball uniforms sewing masks. Now is the time to give for many reasons, but most importantly, giving creates positive energy for yourself. In addition, you will broaden your network, which is so important at this time.

An Enlightening Observation
We are stronger and more powerful than we think, according to Kuzma.
"Each of us is capable of hard things," she added. "When we focus on others and how we can be of service right now, we move from a place of worry, fear and anxiety to a place of kindness, community and empathy." According to Kuzma, each of us will emerge more grateful from this experience by focusing on what we can control versus what we can’t.
