Michelle P.
Key Private Bank Senior Market Leader

Interview
What made you choose Key as an employer?
I had been in the mortgage business for years when approached about coming to Key as a Mortgage Advisor, and I took the opportunity to learn more about the financial services industry (beyond mortgage). Key's resources and being in the branches exposed me to many things beyond mortgage, including banking, investments, and Private Banking.
What role has career development at Key played in your employee experience?
Career development has been the best part of my experience at Key. Each role I have been in at Key has introduced me to new skills, experiences, and people that facilitated my career path. I have had many informal mentors along the way that have provided great insight from their careers that led me to a broad range of experiences at Key in my career.
From my experience, to excel at Key, you should strive to be the best in your role. Being a team player and lifting others up will get you noticed. Look for opportunities to network outside your departments, like by joining a KBING or participating in another line of business’ social networking event.
Has your hard work been rewarded at Key?
Key has a culture of rewarding strong performance, and I have experienced that in multiple lines of business. Throughout my career at Key, I’ve been recognized and approached by managers regarding promotional opportunities. My career growth at Key is a reflection of my reward.
What do you like most about Key’s culture?
Much like we tell our clients that Key has all the capabilities and resources of a large national bank, but with the more personal delivery of a local bank, I feel the same way about our culture internally. Even though Key is a large corporation, as an employee, I feel very personally connected to the company and its employees at all levels, from the people I work with daily to our executive leadership team. Key’s culture is very welcoming and makes you feel like family.
