Our vision for a sustainable community goes far beyond our operations to include our clients and communities. It's our responsibility and it's where we can have the greatest impact. We're upholding this vision by:
Our renewable energy portfolio investment at the end of 2015
The number of homes our $3.1 billion investment in renewable energy has the potential to power
We now have $3.1 billion in renewable energy portfolio investment at the end of 2015. Supporting client's sustainability goals is as important to Key as achieving its own sustainability goals. In 2015, KeyBank provided more than $30 million in lending through the Key4Green platform and helped businesses invest sustainability in their facilities.
(excluding certain waste streams)
We're diverting 70% of our waste from landfills by recycling and donating as much as is feasible from paper, eWaste and printer cartridges to carpet, furniture, batteries and more. We've also reduced paper use by more than 60%. That's just part of our commitment to being responsible to the environment.
During this popular, month-long sustainability celebration, our employees securely recycle electronics and sensitive documents from home and learn how to make more sustainable decisions at home and at work. We also highlight every day employees impacting sustainability in a big way.
We're reducing resource and energy use across our operations by creating more sustainable branches and offices. The results:
of our corporate office square footage has achieved Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design® (LEED®) certification

Our customers are helping us uphold our environmental responsibility, too. They're banking online and on their phones to save fuel. And more than 80% of our customers are using e-statements to reduce paper waste.
