Building a sustainable community through responsible actions

Our vision for a sustainable community goes far beyond our operations to include our clients and communities. It's our responsibility and it's where we can have the greatest impact. We're upholding this vision by:

Supporting sustainable investments

We now have $3.1 billion in renewable energy portfolio investment at the end of 2015. Supporting client's sustainability goals is as important to Key as achieving its own sustainability goals. In 2015, KeyBank provided more than $30 million in lending through the Key4Green platform and helped businesses invest sustainability in their facilities.


Harvesting Maine's wind

Key provided funding for the Oakfield wind farm in Aroostook County, Maine, which will produce 148 MW of clean renewable energy annually.

Capturing Ohio's solar energy

Key4Green helped this dealership install a 300 KW solar canopy which generates 70% of their power while providing protection from the weather.

Diversion rate

We're diverting 70% of our waste from landfills by recycling and donating as much as is feasible from paper, eWaste and printer cartridges to carpet, furniture, batteries and more. We've also reduced paper use by more than 60%. That's just part of our commitment to being responsible to the environment.


Green Office April

During this popular, month-long sustainability celebration, our employees securely recycle electronics and sensitive documents from home and learn how to make more sustainable decisions at home and at work. We also highlight every day employees impacting sustainability in a big way.


We're designing efficient and healthier facilities

We're reducing resource and energy use across our operations by creating more sustainable branches and offices. The results:

Employees worked remotely at least once in 2015

We're committed to reducing our energy consumption and emissions by investing in energy efficient lighting, building management systems and high-efficiency HVAC equipment. We're also carefully tracking our energy and emissions data to gain an accurate picture of our operational footprint and set our sights on further reductions.

We're green together
