Final interviews are conducted in-person at one of our office locations. Interviewers range from the hiring manager to recruiter or line of business representative.

Is Key doing in-person interviews?

We are still predominantly in a virtual interview environment until further notice. Most of our interviews are still being conducted virtually either via phone or video, reserving only final interviews to potentially be conducted in person.

If I have an in-person interview, should I wear a mask?

As we schedule your in-person visit, please know the health and safety of our teammates and candidates is our top priority. We are utilizing safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a basis for our COVID-19 protocols. As you may know, the CDC has updated mask guidelines for those who are fully vaccinated, making masks optional in most indoor and outdoor situations. In keeping with CDC guidelines, masks are no longer required in KeyBank branches or worksites for anyone who is fully vaccinated unless required by state or local order.

As of June 2021:
In all states except WA and OR:
If you are fully vaccinated, masks are optional. If you prefer to wear a mask, please feel free to do so, and advise us if you would like the individuals at Key with whom you are visiting to wear a mask also.

In WA:
Due to state-specific orders/mandates in place, you will need to wear a mask unless you can attest that you are fully vaccinated. Please volunteer that information to the hiring manager if you choose to not wear a mask to your in-person interview. If you are not fully vaccinated or do not want to volunteer that information, state law requires that you wear a mask. Please note that the teammates at Key with whom you are visiting may not be wearing a mask if they have reported to Key that they are fully vaccinated.
In OR:
Due to state-specific orders/mandates in place, you will need to wear a mask. Please note that the teammates at Key with whom you are visiting may not be wearing a mask if they have reported to Key that they are fully vaccinated.

Virtual Interview

To slow the spread of COVID-19, most employment interviews are being conducted virtually. This allows our teammates and candidates to avoid travel and help limit the spread of the virus while still getting to know one another.

What is virtual interviewing?

A virtual interview is essentially a video or phone conference. You will connect with us through a virtual (WebEx) conference link that will be provided in your emailed interview invitation. This is still a formal interview that you are simply doing from the comfort of your own home via a laptop or mobile device.

View our tips for a successful virtual video interview.

How will this be different from an in-person interview?

It really isn’t. You can still think of this as a formal interview. The only difference is the virtual conference technology we are using to connect and meet. Don’t let the technology prevent you from being yourself. We are in this together and, as always, are working to facilitate great conversations with our candidates.

What type of technology will I need?

You’ll need a strong internet connection and a computer, laptop or mobile device. If you are invited to a video interview you will need to have a camera on your device. If you have concerns about your ability to participate due to technology issues, please notify your recruiter or recruiting specialist as soon as possible.

What if I’m invited to a video interview and don’t have a device with a camera?

Notify your recruiter/recruiting specialist. They can provide additional options for connecting virtually with our team members. Please remember that all smartphones and tablets have built-in cameras that can be used to connect via video conference.

What if I need an accommodation?

Individuals with disabilities who are unable or limited in their ability to participate in virtual interviews may request reasonable accommodations by email.

What do I do if I have technical issues when trying to connect to a video conference?

Typically, virtual interviews are easy to set up and conduct. If you are having technical issues, try to connect a couple of times. Sometimes a simple re-boot is all that is needed. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to the recruiter or recruiting specialist about what is happening.

Our recruiters and recruiting specialists are working to optimize this experience for you. If at any point you have questions or concerns, please reach out to them. They are here to help.

Military/Veteran

I am a veteran with management and leadership experience, but no industry experience. Should I apply?

As a recently discharged service member, I don’t have a college degree. Will Key consider me for a position?

I’ve been invited to a super interview day; what is that?

A super interview day is considered a final-round interview for students going through campus recruiting with Key. This is an opportunity for final-round candidates to meet with leaders, program managers and recruiters. Many super interview days consist of multiple rounds of interviewing, but some might also include a case study, a technical interview or a group activity as part of the day. There will likely be multiple candidates interviewing at the same time, and some campus programs might host a dinner or networking event the night before as well. Your recruiter will notify you if you are selected to attend a super interview day. Please ask your recruiter for more details about what the day will entail.

How can I prepare for an interview?

To prepare for an upcoming interview, you should spend time researching the company and the role you are pursuing. You should ensure you understand the business need for the role and be able to convey your interest. Be prepared to discuss your background as directed by your resumé. Additionally, reach out to professionals you have met at Key to ask questions about the role and the expectations of our interns.

When do you begin recruiting interns?

We begin intern recruiting in mid- to late August and are on campus through the fall. From there, interviews are typically held toward the end of September through early December. The length of time can vary based on the line of business.

Do you only recruit from certain schools?

No, we accept resumés from all campuses, but we have a strong campus footprint at select universities. If Key does not attend your school's career fair, we still recruit on your campus and invite you to apply to our internship programs. If you are wondering if Key actively visits your school, please reach out to your career center on campus.

If you are interning as a sophomore, you may have the opportunity to intern again in the same or a different department. If you are interning as a junior you may be able to come back as an intern or an analyst in the same or different department. As part of the program, interns are given the chance to learn about and meet with managers from lines of business outside of their current program. In other cases, interns may be invited to interview for second internships/full-time analyst placements as part of the fall recruiting cycle.
