Keybank Has a Proud Tradition With New York State
Since our founding in Albany in 1825, we’ve been helping the state's clients and communities thrive – from Western New York to the Capital Region and beyond. Today, we're continuing with that tradition.
- Growing careers and leaders
- Growing our commitment to nonprofits
- Growing our communities
- Growing businesses
- Growing banking access
Growing Careers & Leaders
KeyBank is proud to have 2,600 employees serving New York State and enhancing the future for our clients and communities.
We’re also dedicated to diversity and inclusion. Just ask two of our champions for women in business – New York’s own Ruth H. Mahoney and Fran O’Rourke. Both received Trailblazer Awards from the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region.
"My goal is to help our diverse people and communities thrive."
Ruth H. Mahoney , KeyBank Market President, Capital Region, Hudson Valley and Metro New York, 2011 Trailblazer Award winner
"I value diversity on my team and want everyone to be supported to be their best."
Fran O’Rourke , KeyBank Capital Region Private Bank market leader, 2015 Trailblazer Award winner
Growing Our Commitment to Nonprofits
We're transforming communities through the KeyBank Foundation. Our New York employees have volunteered more than 300,000 hours of their time and, with Key, contributed more than $3.5 million to local nonprofits since 2004.
Spotlight: Helping Albany Medical Center grow RNs
At Albany Medical Center, we're helping employees become registered nurses through donations to the hospital's "Grow Our Own" work-study program, which funds tuition and paid time off.
Growing Our Communities
We're helping New York’s communities thrive by committing nearly $1 billion to community development in the state. We've helped fund numerous affordable housing developments, including:
Massachusetts Avenue Community Homes, Buffalo
46-unit housing development for low- to moderate-income families
$10 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity
Cadence Square, Canandaigua
Multipurpose support services and housing development for veterans
$5 million LIHTC equity

$26 million in LIHTC equity
Growing Businesses, Large & Small
We're helping businesses plan for a better future. Like the growing nanotechnology industry in Albany and Utica, where we’ve financed several major projects. We've also funded New York’s healthcare system for well over a century, as well as the state’s agencies, public schools, nonprofits and more.

Growing Your Banking Access With Surcharge-free Atms
We're making it easier for New Yorkers to bank – and save money. Across the state, you'll find over 1000 ATMs, 600 of which are surcharge-free ATMs in Rite Aid pharmacies – a perk exclusive to KeyBank clients.
