Maddox Freight & Logistics
Branden Thomas, owner of Denver’s Maddox Freight & Logistics, had very little firsthand knowledge of the shipping landscape. However, after some intense industry research and mentorship, his business began to take off. “You need somebody who’s done it at that level, who’s available, who’s really seen the obstacles,” said Branden on finding guidance. With a strong community helping Branden along the way, Maddox Freight & Logistics continues to keep growing.
As Thomas’ business took off, he needed a bank that could also act as a mentor. With his previous bank hesitant to move forward with his new small business, Thomas was referred to KeyBank through the help of a friend. “I had a bank for over 15 years and now they weren’t even willing to help me out,” Thomas explained. “I walked in the door, and they walked me right back out so that was the worst thing.”
“If it was easy, then everybody would be an entrepreneur.” – Branden Thomas, Owner, Maddox Freight & Logistics
KeyBank worked with Thomas to establish a line of credit. He started out as a personal client of KeyBank. As Thomas’ business developed banking needs, he also built his business’s banking relationship with KeyBank. “I was with my prior bank for probably 15 years, and I would never get communication from them the way I get it from Key,” Thomas said.
Now, Thomas manages two trucks and a small team of hardworking people. “Hopefully because of this lucrative industry, we want to acquire two more trucks with the new year coming up and getting new drivers and that’s just the biggest thing right now,” Thomas said. Branden has learned that starting your business doesn’t have to be a solo journey.
