Enterprise Software – Michael Turits
I'm Michael Turits. I'm a senior enterprise software analyst here at KeyBanc.
I could have just told you this is what I did out of college but it's not quite true. I did have a couple of careers before this. And specifically, I was, let's just say I'm a recovering academic. I was very close to becoming a professor. I was a graduate student and actually have a PhD in comparative literature and what I was studying there and looking at and what my dissertation was on was the impact of technology changes in the early 20th century on literature and culture.
So I guess if there's a tie-in in why I came to this, it was thinking well, let's not just just think about what that is academically or in the abstract but let's actually think about what those changes mean moving forward in technology and how we can help people better invest and allocate capital based on where those technology changes are taking place.
We try to tell large institutions what to do with their money in terms of investing and equity specifically around the software industry. So our job is not to tell people whether or not they should be in equity or bonds but if they're going to be investing in tech, should they be investing in software versus other areas of tech? And then within software, what are the areas that they should be investing in?
And particularly, we're trying to think differently. We're trying to say what is the market not seeing that creates an investment opportunity around either short-term or long-term themes that we see in technology.
