John P. Ward, Jr. — Managing Director

Focus
John brings over 20 years of investment and operating experience to Key Venture Partners with a focus on Cloud Computing, telecommunications, data services and information technology businesses. He currently serves as a board member of Fusion Media Group, Band Digital, Xactly, and airBand Communications and his prior board responsibilities with KVP have included ServiceCEO (acquired by Marathon Data Systems), Opsource (acquired by Nippon Telephone & Telegraph, NYSE: NTT) and Airwide (acquired by Mavenir).

Previously
John joined the firm in late 2006. Previously, he was a General Partner at M/C Venture Partners where he was responsible for leading investments in the communications and IT industries. His investments and board level responsibilities included Fusepoint Managed Services (acquired by Savvis, NASDAQ: SVVS), Vertical Communications, Intellireach (acquired by Infocrossing, now Wipro, NYSE: WIT), Nuvox Communications (acquired by Windstream, NYSE: WIN), Attenda Ltd. (acquired by Darwin Private Equity), and Hyperformix. Prior to joining M/C Venture Partners, he was a Vice President at BancBoston Ventures where he had been focused on early stage venture capital investing in information technology, communications, and healthcare companies. Previously, Mr. Ward held operating roles at Fidelity Investments in sales and marketing, and served five years as an officer with United States Naval Intelligence.

Joseph T. McCullen, Jr. — Senior Advisor

Joe, retained since 2001 as a Senior Advisor to Key Venture Partners, also currently serves as Chairman of McCullen Capital, LLC ("MCAP"), a family office firm founded the same year. Previously, for 18 years he was a Managing Director at the venture capital firms of Whitney & Co. and OneLiberty Ventures. During this period of time his investments were in communications and information technology. He was a founding investor in such successful companies as TeleCorp, Brooks Fiber Properties, Intermedia Communications, Eastern TeleLogic, MetroNet, NuVox and metroPCS. Earlier in his career he served as a Special Assistant to the President of the U.S., Assistant Secretary of the Navy and acting Secretary of the Navy. Currently he serves on several boards including NuVox, metroPCS, Atlantis Bidding and TeleCorp WCS. Joe holds a Ph.D. (hon.) from his alma mater Villanova University and is a recipient of two Distinguished Service Medals.
