Summary
KeyBank Community Development Lending & Investment provided financing for the new construction of 35 Broadway, a 67-unit, partially subsidized family and formerly homeless veteran project in Menands, New York. The 35 units will be set aside for homeless people with one or more disabling conditions and the remaining 32 units will serve families and individuals earning no more than 60% of the area median income (AMI). Supportive services will be provided to tenants by Soldier On, Inc. (SO), a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization that has provided transitional and permanent supportive services for homeless veterans and veterans at-risk of homelessness since 1994. Supportive services will include case management, recovery support to individuals with chronic addictions, mental health support, medical needs, assistance with finances, education, and employment, and a specialized holistic case management and wellness program for veterans. We want to thank Beacon Communities Development for its sponsorship and shared mission to build much-needed affordable housing in Menands.
The financing includes an $18.5 million construction loan and $15.2 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) equity.
