Why You Should Use a Mobile Banking App

As smartphones have become increasingly popular, so has the mobile banking app. A dedicated service that allows you to complete tasks while on the go, without needing to wait in lines or deal with the hassle of paperwork. Not only is it convenient, but your bank's mobile app is secure as well — especially for tasks such as depositing checks and paying bills.

If you're not already taking advantage of your smartphone to manage your finances, you should consider starting. Keep reading to find out more about why you should make the switch.

Get Immediate Access to Your Account

With most major banks, you can receive immediate access to your account. You can also use the app for many of the same tasks that you would do at a physical branch. These include updating your account preferences, transferring money from one account to another, checking account statements, and paying bills.

Depositing checks used to be a pain for me until mobile banking, but now depositing a paper check is a breeze. All I have to do is use my phone's camera to take a photo of the check. Within minutes, the money is deposited into your account. The best part? You can do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Paying for Things Is a Breeze

Many banking apps also make it easy for customers to pay using apps such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay. All you need to do is link your debit and credit cards, open the app, and use it to pay for purchases at participating retailers. Some payment options, like Google Pay, don't even require you to open the app. You just tap your phone over the in-store card reader and enter your PIN, or scan your fingerprint to approve the purchase.

If you like to shop online, mobile banking apps can help keep your information secure and uncompromised. For example, some apps can store your payment and shipping information through your bank instead of entering it in an online store. This way you won't risk having your information stolen in case the website you're using isn't secure.

Easier to Keep Track of Your Finances

It's a lot easier to keep track of your transactions when you can access your account information at any time. You can use your mobile banking app to see what the balance is as well as search and review transactions. Some apps will also allow you to track your bills online as well. Some banks charge a fee to do this at an ATM or by calling customer service — but an app will save you time and money. Not only that, but many major banks integrate financial wellness tools into their apps. Examples include lessons on budgeting and analyzing where your finances are in relation to your goals.

It's a Secure Way to Bank

Most banks will use encryption through their mobile apps that will protect your privacy, financial information, and identity. In order to access your mobile banking app, you'll have to create a login and some banks have even created extra layers of protection, such as a separate PIN number. You may even have the option of using a fingerprint sensor for an added layer of security before you can log in.
