Whether you’re opening a checking account or applying for credit, there are certain documents you’ll need to have with you. Here’s a list to help you get ready for your visit.

Checking account opening
  • Your Social Security number
  • One valid form of primary identification (driver’s license, valid passport, government-issued ID with photo and signature)
  • Minimum required opening deposit (amount varies depending on type of account)

Mortgage, home equity loan or home equity line of credit application

There are several documents you will need to have with you when you apply, and additional items may be requested depending on the type of loan or line of credit you are applying for.

Personal information:

  • Social Security number or Taxpayer Identification number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • Proof of employment or income (pay stub, tax returns, personal financial statement)
  • Other income verification

Proof of income

Salaried employees should have their:

  • Last two pay stubs
  • W-2s from the previous two years
  • Personal financial statements may be requested

Self-employed individuals should have their completed and signed individual and business tax returns from the previous two years.

Other income types:

  • Income from alimony, child support or separate maintenance does not need to be disclosed unless you want us to verify and consider it for obtaining this loan.
  • If you would like your government benefits, such as Social Security to be considered, we will require current award letters.

Savings, checking, certificates of deposit and investments

  • Two recent months of asset statements

Debts

Complete list of outstanding debts including any credit cards, loans and lines of credit.

Ownership, property value and existing mortgages

  • Owner occupied, second or vacation home, rental property
  • Approximate value, including major improvements
  • Outstanding mortgage balance(s) – copy of first mortgage statement
  • Proof of property or hazard insurance
  • Proof of flood insurance as required – copy of declaration page
  • Copy of real estate or school taxes and condo association fees as requested
